PSYCHIC ILLS (vs)
"When it comes to following the beat of their own drum, New York's Psychic Ills have exemplified the phrase since their beginnings in 2003. Initially spawned from electronic-centered home recording experiments, they progressed into all-night full-band exploration in a neighborhood where noise wasn't a problem. They soon after evolved into a live band seemingly at home within the extended jam, exploring a variety of musical terrain. The early years saw several releases for Social Registry, tons of time on the road, and collaborations with artists as diverse as Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers) and Sonic Boom (Spacemen Three/Spectrum). In 2011, their first effort for Sacred Bones, Hazed Dream traded in the synthesizer space-outs and raga rumbles, and delivered a record of sunburned psych pop, awash in warm tones and blues damaged songwriting."
DAVID BIRCHALL, COLIN WEBSTER & ROGIER SMAL TRIO (uk/nl)
Guitar - sax - drums - insanity.
"David Birchall is one of the most engaging improvising musicians currently in the UK. With his shamanistic approach, and breath-taking technique, he is one of the key figures in the highly fertile improvised music scene in Manchester. Rogier Smal is a drummer who experiments with free percussion sounds. Currently based in Amsterdam, he plays with different groups, musicians and solo. Lately Rogier has been lucky enough to have been making sonic waves of liberty with gems like Marshall Allen, Dylan Carlson, Eugene Chadbourne, Asuna, Sunburned hand of the man and Daevid Allen to mention a mere few! London based saxophonist Colin Webster is quickly establishing himself on the European avant-garde scene. Working with a broad range of collaborators, Webster is known for dealing with extreme sonic palettes – from minimal to maximal, consistently pushing boundaries and decibel limits. Colin’s recent collaborators include: Alex Ward, Steve Noble, Dirk Serries, Graham Dunning, Sheik Anorak, and Dead Neanderthals."
BABY GALAXY (nl)
"Melodic powerpop ménage à trois from Maastricht who've been barely coming out as a band for a year but succeded to do this in a highly fruitful way; Plenty of shows, a Euro tour, a fun video clip and their debut album peeping around the corner. Come early!"
