Hilde D'haeyere is fascinated by the technology of cinema and the mechanics of comedy, particularly by how the one playacts the other (you choose).
In ‘Cinemacine’ she presents a compilation of clips from media fantasy films and demonstrates comic mechanisms related to slapstick comedies of the 1910s and 1920s, in hopes of finding cinematic ideas that are still valid today. Aided by unreliable sources and unstable technology Hilde D'haeyere investigates the comedic potential of a cinema that dreams its rivals.
