Abysmal Grief is a Gothic Doom Metal band established in Genoa in 1996. The band was founded by the multi-instrumentalist Regen Graves, following the typical canons of the so-called Italian Dark Sound, and by combining to the music topics related mainly to Esotericism and Death, with literary and philosophical references to authors such as Eliphas Levi, Allan Kardec and Aleister Crowley. Stylistically the musical genre of Abysmal Grief takes up the typical canons of Doom Metal, with the addition of keyboards and synthesizers in the tradition of Italian horror soundtracks, combined with a mixed use of clean and screaming vocals.
