Nihiloxica / Nah
Nihiloxica is a project that harnesses the full force of the ancient Bugandan drumming tradition of Uganda and focuses it on the contemporary dance floor through a dark lens of techno sensibility.
Formed by UK musicians Spooky-J & pq and members of the Nilotika Cultural Ensemble, incubated in Kampala by acclaimed label Nyege Nyege Tapes, the cross-continental band explore the common ground between techno and tradition, a conversation between two cultures with a common aim: to make people dance. They’ve been tearing apart dance floors and festivals across the world with an at once transcendental and earth-shattering live show. They’ve already performed at major festivals including Sonar (ES), Dekmantel (NL), Flow Festival (FI), Nuits Sonores (FR), Fusion (DE), Garbicz (PL), Ortigia (IT), Oslo World (NO) and iconic venues from Printworks in London to Razzmatazz in Barcelona.
“Deliciously chaotic and ferocious urban grooves from Kampala” Songlines 5
“Powerful and exciting… You won’t be watching Nihiloxica play live for a fair while, but you can and should prime yourself for such future privileges.” – The Quietus

Nah is a percussionist, sound manipulator and visual artist from Philadelphia, but currently operating out of Belgium. He has been recording, touring and developing his own dynamic synthesis of textured noise and genre smashing rhythms since late 2011. Recent years have found him not only producing his own work but also collaborating with artists like Wiki, Mike, Charlotte Adigéry, Iggor Cavalera, Moor Mother, Cities Aviv and more.
Continually shifting and evolving over the course of nearly a decade, NAH (Michul Kuun) has navigated from the American underground to broad and varied accompaniment from some of the most active international producers from the echelons of jazz, hiphop, techno and experimental electronics. - The Wire Magazine
