What motivates you to create?
What drives me to create I would say comes from an urge to stay alive and to get close to my peers, to keeping things in motion.
What’s the purpose or goal of your work?
The intention is to activate memory through celebration and to create moments where reflection can also emerge through shared enjoyment.
Is there a specific environment or material that’s integral to your work?
A recurring aspect in my practice is a closeness to what is informal or what is often overlooked or undervalued. I work with vernacular traces such as everyday records and found visual fragments as graphic material that are often connected to my migration background. My work engages with all these multiplicity of elements as an interconnected whole.
