VISITE (film in Het Bos): 'Cinemacine II' + 'Sherlock Jr.'
"VISITE is een 11 dagen durend filmprogramma samengesteld door makers Anne Reijniers en Eva van Tongeren i.s.m De Imagerie en Het Bos."
CINEMACINE II – Hilde D’haeyere (lecture/performance, with live piano by Hilde Nash)
Hilde D'haeyere is fascinated by the technology of cinema and the mechanics of comedy, particularly by how the one playacts the other (you choose).
In ‘Cinemacine’ she presents a compilation of clips from media fantasy films and demonstrates comic mechanisms related to slapstick comedies of the 1910s and 1920s, in hopes of finding cinematic ideas that are still valid today. Aided by unreliable sources and unstable technology Hilde D'haeyere investigates the comedic potential of a cinema that dreams its rivals.
SHERLOCK JR. (44 min, 1924) by Buster Keaton (film with live piano by Hilde Nash)
Hilde D’Haeyere: "A projectionist longs to be a detective and, in his dreams, tackles real life problems. ‘Sherlock Jr.’ is one of the most beautiful media fantasy films ever made, in which cinema is a stubborn medium that resists being confiscated. The comedy also features a gripping performance by Keaton who demonstrates his skills in many theatrical and cinematic stunt scenes."
